poultry meat production

Nowadays poultry breeders face very strict requirements related to meat quality. It is due both to increasing customer expectations and EU standards. One of the success factors, apart from genetic factors, is the care for the environmental conditions of breeding (the conditions in the coop, including proper temperature, feeding, air humidity, lighting etc.).

Properly adjusted growth conditions for chicks are a decisive factor for breeding poultry for meat and influence their general growth and flock health. Thus, breeding quality must be cared for from the very beginning. For young chicks, due to a poorly developed thermal regulation capacity, which prevents them from compensating for heat losses, it is recommended to use heating zones (distribution from 16°C to 32°C), which allows the birds to choose suitable temperatures for themselves. Improper temperature conditions in chick rearing causes uneven body growth. During the first 10 days the growth rate is 20% per day.

These high requirements related to thermal conditions require using the best thermal insulators. Thermano Agro, with its unique features, allows maintaining proper temperature not only in winter, but also in summer. Overheating is a very significant threat to production performance. At excessive temperatures (above 28°C), water intake increases two- or threefold and increased water excretion leads to an excessive removal of minerals and vitamins, as well as a reduction of protein and blood sugar level. Another adverse effect of excessive water excretion is the reduction of the count of antibodies, causing increased susceptibility to diseases. Furthermore, when overheated birds lose their appetite, which reduces their body weight gain.

Coop temperature has a specific impact on body weight gain and, consequently, production profitability. In excessively cold environments, a significant share of feed is used for stabilising body temperature, as opposed to body weight gain. Thermano Agro offers splendid vapour barrier performance, which contributes to maintaining the desired humidity level in the livestock building. Insufficient humidity (below the optimum level of 70%) causes mucosa membranes drying and rupture, which translates to susceptibility to bacterial infections. Additionally, excessively dry environments increase dusting, which is very dangerous for the respiratory tracts of birds. Thermano Agro is also a non-absorbent insulator and the high humidity inside the coop has no impact on the insulation performance and it does not cause mould or bacterial growth in the insulator.
